 I am an amateur fiddler from the Ithaca NY area. I host and attend various folk / acoustic music gatherings in and near my home town and surrounding area. I also host cycling, hiking and cross country ski outings. I am learning mostly New England and NYS "northern" old-time fiddle tunes suitable for dancing, but also enjoy Irish, Celtic, Canadian, Southern Appalachian, Cajun, Klezmer, Bluegrass and other folk fiddle styles and tunes. I host weekly slow jams at my home and occasional "big jams" that are a great way to meet other folk musicians. I just got a new tenor banjo (4 string) as a gift from my lovely wife ... it's like the kind you see at Irish sessions and used to be popular in old time string bands 50 to 100 years ago in NYS, it is so much fun! Check it out at the next jam ... OK now I am getting crazy, just bought a celtic style mandolin! Latest: I'm taking a break from fiddle and banjo to finally learn some guitar - an instrument I've been avoiding!
