On upright and electric bass, banjo, guitar, and mandolin, Harry Aceto is one of the busiest musicians on the scene, constantly in demand for his solid groove, tasty accompaniment, and inventive solos. He has sideman credits on 25 CDs, and averages 160 gigs per year in a wide variety of styles, including folk, country, rock, R&B, Jazz, Latin, Swing, and Ethnic music.
Since 1997, he has been a member of Jay Ungar & Molly Mason's band Swingology, and on the staff of their music & dance camp at Ashokan, in New York's Catskill Mountain region. In October 2000, they began a series of tours & performances with guitar wizard, David Bromberg. Harry's playing can be heard on Jay & Molly's CD, "Harvest Home", as well as on their latest CD, "Relax Your Mind", on Angel Records (with Bromberg).
Harry's 40 years of experience have ranged from street-corner busking and playing square dances in a one-room schoolhouse in Paradise, Nova Scotia...to tuxedo-clad big band gigs in NYC's Rainbow Room and Waldorf-Astoria (and everything in between!) Some highlights have been performing with Jay & Molly at Teatro Manzoni in Milan, Italy in 1999, and with Joe Salzano's Blue Devils on the New Year's Millenium lindy hop weekend at the historic Riviera Casino in Ensenada, Mexico.
Some other notable engagements have been:
